Moose Mountain Glades
Moose Mountain is home to the most skiable vertical in Minnesota, over 700′. SHB is moving forward with the Superior National Forest to lightly glade this priceless gem of the Minnesota landscape.
Hut to Hut skiing in MN!
Hut to Hut skiing on the North Shore is one of the main goals of Superior Highland Backcountry. We hope to construct our firt two huts in the Lutsen Area, one on the west side of Moose and the second on Raven Mountain, east of Eagle Mountain.
Our Long Term Plan
In the Highlands running along the North Shore of Lake Superior are numerous large hills and ridges, many of which have the right vertical and pitch for excellent Skiing opportunities. A number of barriers exist to fully open these areas up, namely brush and low branch obstacles and the safety concern of long distances and our cold winter climate. We envision a series of beautiful backcountry glades with a number of small backcountry huts connected by a trail network.
